Our second meetup brings a hands-on restricted-palette challenge with Callum, judging for 28 Days Later, and the launch of Orktober. Bring your abandoned vehicle entries, current projects and a willingness to experiment. Everything is optional.

A home for painters who want to grow.
Northern Display Painters Guild is a community of miniature and figure painters based in Newcastle upon Tyne.
Our aim is to create a regular, welcoming space where painters can meet, improve, exchange ideas and support one another. Display painting is our main focus, but you do not need competition experience—or even ambitions to compete—to belong here.

Where it began.
A well-attended first meetup and a great kickoff for the guild. Painters came together to share their work, talk display painting and launch our first challenge. Thanks to everyone who came along and helped shape what comes next.

A three-paint demonstration, an optional hands-on challenge and a chance to see what everyone has created since August.
THE THREE-PAINT CHALLENGEWhite · Red oxide · Phthalo blue
The restricted three-paint palette.
Inspired by @lead_wh1te’s palette exercise: just white, red oxide and phthalo blue. Callum will demonstrate on an academic bust before an optional on-the-day challenge for anyone who wants to have a go.
28 Days Later.
Callum will also judge the abandoned vehicle challenge. Participants have had the freedom to develop their basing skills while placing a vehicle of their choice into a scene. Bring your finished work along.
Better miniature photos.
We also hope to fit in a short session on improving miniature photography, time permitting.
Activities are optional. The photography session is subject to time on the day.

Orktober.
Our second monthly challenge launches at the September meetup. Paint anything from the Ork or Goblin universe — choose your subject, style and interpretation.
Bring your finished piece to the November meetup for judging. More details and the judge will be announced soon.

Come along to a meetup, bring a work in progress and introduce yourself. Newer painters are welcome, feedback is always optional and there is no requirement to enter competitions.
